As I told her, many women who come to me for coaching have lost one or two breasts to cancer. Which really sucks. The insecurity is holding me back from being the actively dating divorcee I would otherwise be. Is raising the topic the equivalent of the herpes conversation? A mastectomy is a surgery to remove all breast tissue from a breast in order to treat or prevent breast cancer. A lumpectomy, a surgery to remove only the tumor from the breast, may be an option for some breast cancer patients. Woman A: I was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 26 in October of I underwent chemo and was given the option to have a double mastectomy and reconstruction done all in one procedure.
Divorce, Starting Over, and Dating after Cancer
Five years ago I was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Renal Cell Carcinoma, stage 2 of 3. I had a partial nephrectomy of my right kidney. About a year after, my ex husband had an affair, that's why he's my ex. He was never supportive and wouldn't allow me to talk about the cancer.
Posted on: Mar 23, PM. Here's my situation--I've met a truly amazing woman who informed me on our first date that she's a cancer survivor and has had a double mastectomy. Other than the obvious concern that she'd had to suffer through that experience her revelation didn't really upset or shock me--face it at our age early fifties many of us have had or will soon have some type of major illness. Without being presumptuous it looks like things may become sexual in the near future and I need some advice. I've never made love to a woman who has had a double mastectomy but I can imagine such a procedure changes how a woman feels about her body.
